Bocadillo (bow-ca-dee-yo): Spanish sandwich served on a baguette
My name is Ria and I love sandwiches. Yep. I admit to sneaking to the kitchen in the middle of the night and creating a masterpiece sandwich. When visiting my deli, my guy greets me by first name, prepares my order without me having to tell him what I want and he eagerly introduces new ingredients for my future sandwich creations. Now that you have a better understanding of my passion for sandwiches, you can imagine my reaction when our Culinary Director, Adam Halberg, announced our new bocadillo lunch menu. My eyes widened and I felt like my hair was blowing in the wind to the tune of “Dream Weaver” in some goofy dream sequence. Needless to say, I was elated and looking forward to the next meeting where I would be able to taste these little packages of goodness.
(Drum roll please)… I am excited to announce our new and delicious menu featuring a variety of bocadillos, salads and soups. Using bread from Wave Hill Breads in Norwalk, CT each bocadillo is about 3” long. We’re offering eight different bocadillos (menu below), two types of soup and three delicious salads such as roasted chicken on gem lettuce, grapes and almonds; grilled skirt steak on arugula with red onions and chickpeas and tuna salad on romaine with capers and hard-boiled eggs. If you’re like me and like to sample a little of everything, we have “the mix” where you can order a combination of bocadillos with a side of salad or soup. The other combo is one bocadillo, soup and one cana (7 oz beer).
Honestly, they’re all so tasty. My personal favorites are the Serrano ham w/manchego cheese and membrillo jam (membrillo is similar to quince so it’s a savory & sweet sammy); speck and spicy caponata; raw tuna with hot peppers; and the roast beef with goat cheese and truffle sauce. If you’re in the mood from staying away from the carbs, the soups and salads are delicious and filling.
For those of you who are pressed for time during your lunch hour, this lunch menu is a great option. Why? It’s a simple menu, tasty and affordable. So whether you’re dining at the restaurant or need to cater an office luncheon, this is a great alternative for business lunches.
Currently, this lunch menu is available in Stamford, West Hartford, and Atlanta. As soon as it becomes available at our other locations, you’ll be the first to know. So when you get a chance, drop by and let us know what you think.
